How do you recruit other players to join your fellowship?

I thought I would go over what all I do before I ever invite another player to join our fellowship.  By the word "invite" I mean send an invitation to a player to join our fellowship.  (I say that because anyone can send someone an invitation by messaging them, but that is not what I'm talking about here.  For this article, when I say "invite" I mean when you actually send "the invitation" by clicking the button from going to that person's city and clicking on the Fellowship icon and then inviting them OR when you can invite them from a player's subtext menu.)

I begin my search by going to one of our own members citys and clicking on the number under their name.  It will bring up the Rankings box with that player and others about the same rank and their fellowships.  I used to go to the people who did not have a fellowship, but now I go to the fellowships.  I look first to see the ranking of the fellowship.  If it is way above our own rank, I don't bother looking at the players since my thinking is that they probably wouldn't want to leave a fellowship with a better score than ours (I could be wrong though - who knows?).

When I find a fellowship I want to learn about, I go to Elvenstats.com and look it up.  If there are only a couple of players active, depending on how many spaces we have to fill and how many they have that are still active with the boosts we need and what stage they are in the game, I will copy those names down and go back to my own city. Oh, and I only do this is the Archmage hasn't played for quite some time (months).  If you mouse over the
black triangle it will tell you the last time that player's score changed.  If it's been for months/years, you have a pretty good indication that they are no longer playing.

Then I send them all a message.  I tell them about my fellowship and I try to include what we would expect from them - that is, help with the weekly tournaments and with the Fellowship Adventures, neighborly help 3-4 times a week (although a lot of us do it daily) and ask them to stop by the chat once in a while - it's nice to get to know people, you know?

If I hear back from them and they want to join, I will send them an "official" invitation.  I only send out invitations to people who have already told me they want to join.  I used to do it the other way - but, to tell the truth, I had about a dozen pages of Aspirants and NO ONE accepted any of the invitations sent that way.

So, I feel if you are wanting to help with the recruiting of new members, you really need to do your homework first, see if they are active at least and what boosts they have.  Then send the prospect a message and see if they respond.  If they want to join, then send them an invitation.  That way we won't have page after page of Aspirants and no one responding.  And, hopefully, we can get a well-rounded fellowship that way (talking about boosted goods).
